I have been editing, writing, and managing publications since the early 1980s. I've been fortunate enough to work for an incredibly diverse group of companies, from trade associations to worldwide design firms to online magazines. I'm comfortable with a wide variety of styles, work environments, and client needs. Working under pressure and on tight deadlines is second nature to me.

Over the years I have also volunteered my experience and enthusiasm for a number of groups. I currently teach editing at the University of Washington's certificate program in editing, and have served on the board of the Association of Women in Communications Seattle chapter, the communications board for the American Cancer Society, and the alumni board of the UW's School of Communications.

I often speak at groups or classes about editing, and have been the guest speaker for two Copyeditor conferences, including an audio conference on Editing for the Web, and most recently at the Northwest Independent Editors Guild's Beyond the Red Pen conference. In fall 2010 and spring 2011, I will instruct workshops on editing in Adobe Acrobat, and Proofreading.
